Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is the main gateway to Cyprus, and it sits just a few kilometers south of Larnaca’s town center. Most visitors, however, are heading further afield, to Ayia Napa, Protaras, Limassol or Nicosia. This guide compares Larnaca Airport transfers by taxi, bus, shuttle and private car, so you can choose the right one for your arrival time, budget and luggage.
Quick answer
- Larnaca town and Finikoudes: take bus 425 during the day, or a taxi for a 10–15 minute ride.
- Ayia Napa and Protaras: the Kapnos Airport Shuttle is the cheapest direct option; a taxi or private transfer takes roughly 40–55 minutes.
- Limassol: the Limassol Airport Express runs from the airport to the city, and it costs €10 for adults (checked October 8, 2026).
- Nicosia: the Kapnos Airport Shuttle takes about 40 minutes to its Nicosia terminal on Kyrenias Avenue.
- Late arrival, family or lots of luggage: pre-book a private transfer with GetTransfer (affiliate link) so a driver meets you in arrivals.
Larnaca Airport transfers at a glance

| Mackenzie Beach | Under 10 min | Bus 425 | Taxi |

| Protaras | About 50–55 min | Kapnos Airport Shuttle | Private transfer or taxi |
| Limassol | 45–50 min | Limassol Airport Express | Private transfer or taxi |

Taxis at Larnaca Airport
Taxis wait at the official rank outside the arrivals hall, and you don’t need to book ahead. They’re the quickest way into Larnaca itself, since the ride to the seafront usually takes 10–15 minutes. For longer trips, though, the fare adds up, so ask the driver for an estimate before you set off.
Taxis in Cyprus run on regulated tariffs, and fares are usually higher at night and on public holidays. Not every driver takes cards, so ask before you get in or carry some euros. If you’re a group of five or more, look for a larger vehicle at the rank, or book one in advance.

Bus 425 to Larnaca town
Public bus 425 is the cheapest way into town. It links the airport with Mackenzie and the Finikoudes seafront in about 20–25 minutes. During the day, buses run roughly every 20 minutes, but evening services are thinner, and the last departure varies by season. So check the current timetable on the Cyprus by Bus website before you land.
The stop is outside the arrivals hall. Because the bus is a regular town service, there’s limited space for big suitcases at busy times.
There’s no direct public bus from the airport to the other cities. Instead, InterCity coaches to Nicosia, Limassol and Ayia Napa leave from central Larnaca. That means a bus 425 ride first, then a change, which works on a budget but takes much longer than a shuttle.
Airport shuttles to Nicosia, Ayia Napa and Protaras
The Kapnos Airport Shuttle is the main shuttle company at Larnaca. It runs two useful routes:
- Larnaca Airport to Nicosia: about 40 minutes to its terminal on Kyrenias Avenue, with departures through the day and night.
- Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa and Protaras: stops include Ayia Napa Square, Nissi Avenue, Pernera Avenue and Protaras Avenue.
The Kapnos desk is in the arrivals hall, and you can also book online. When we checked its FAQ, the allowance was one carry-on bag plus one large suitcase of up to 20 kg per passenger. Fares are fixed per person, so the shuttle is good value for solo travelers and couples. For a family or group, on the other hand, compare the total with a taxi or private transfer, which drops you at the door.
Limassol Airport Express
The Limassol Airport Express shuttle links Larnaca Airport with Limassol for a fixed fare per person (€10 for adults when we checked on October 8, 2026). Its Limassol terminal is at Agios Georgios Havouzas, and services also stop in the Tourist Area. Timetables differ by day of the week, so look up your date on the operator’s website. If your hotel is far from the stops, a short taxi ride from the terminal finishes the trip.
Private Larnaca Airport transfers
A pre-booked private transfer is the least stressful option after a late or delayed flight. Your driver tracks the flight, meets you in arrivals with a name sign, and drives straight to your hotel, villa or apartment. Moreover, the price is agreed in advance, which helps on long rides to Protaras or Limassol.
On GetTransfer, you enter your route and date, and then local drivers and transfer companies send offers. You can compare prices, vehicle types and reviews before you book. For example, you can ask for a child seat or a minivan for golf bags.

Getting to Paphos from Larnaca Airport
Paphos is about 140 km away, so it’s the longest of the common Larnaca Airport transfers. By car it takes about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. On public transport, the Kapnos Airport Shuttle runs direct between Larnaca and Paphos airports, and Kapnos added more departures in June 2026. From Paphos Airport, buses 612 and 613 or a taxi finish the trip; our Paphos Airport guide has the details. Alternatively, a private transfer or a hire car is simpler, especially with luggage. If you’re staying in the west, see whether a flight into Paphos works better; our guide to choosing between the two airports compares them.
Car hire at the airport
Several rental companies have desks at the airport. A car makes sense if you’re touring the island or staying in a villa outside town. If you’re from the UK, it helps that Cyprus drives on the left. Before you book, read our guide to renting a car in Cyprus as a UK driver. It covers license rules, insurance excess and crossing to the north.
Hiring a car? Compare car hire from local Cyprus firms for pick-up at Larnaca Airport, and check the insurance excess before you book.

Tips for a smooth arrival
- Check the last bus first: if you land in the evening, compare your arrival time with the bus 425 and shuttle timetables, and book a transfer if it’s tight.
- Allow for passport control: UK passport holders are non-EU visitors, so queues can be longer at peak times.
- Carry some euros: Cyprus uses the euro, and small cash helps with taxis and bus tickets.
- Set your watch: Cyprus is two hours ahead of the UK for most of the year.
- Mobile data: EU visitors can usually roam at home prices, but many UK mobile plans now charge a daily fee in Cyprus. Check your plan before you go, or buy a local data eSIM in advance, for example a Cyprus eSIM from Airalo (affiliate link).
Then, once you’ve settled in, read our guides to Ayia Napa and Protaras and Limassol.
