Flights to Zakynthos (Zante) from the UK: Airlines, Season and Transfers

Zakynthos, or Zante, has some of the best choices of direct flights from the UK of any Greek island in summer. Dozens of UK airports have direct seasonal flights to Zakynthos International Airport “Dionysios Solomos” (ZTH), a compact airport about 4 km south-west of Zakynthos Town, right next to the resorts of Kalamaki and Laganas. Short transfers are also a big plus, since most hotels are less than half an hour away. Here’s how to plan your flights before you book.

Quick facts: Zakynthos from the UK

  • Flight time from the UK: about 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours 15 minutes, depending on your departure airport.
  • Time difference: Greece is 2 hours ahead of the UK.
  • Season: direct flights to Zakynthos from the UK run mainly from May to October. However, there are no regular direct UK flights in winter.
  • Airport location: about 4 km from Zakynthos Town, beside Kalamaki and Laganas.
  • Currency: euro (EUR).
  • Mobile data: EU visitors can usually roam at home prices, but many UK mobile plans now charge a daily fee in Greece. Check your plan before you go, or buy a local data eSIM in advance, for example a Greece eSIM from Airalo (affiliate link).

Which UK airlines offer flights to Zakynthos?

Based on published schedules checked on October 8, 2026, these airlines run seasonal direct flights:

  • Jet2 has the widest network, with flights from Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle.
  • TUI flies from Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Glasgow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle, mainly for package holidays, although it sometimes sells spare seats as flight-only.
  • easyJet also flies from Bristol, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester.
  • Ryanair, by contrast, flies only from London Stansted.
  • British Airways flies from London Heathrow.
  • Wizz Air flies from London Luton.

In fact, many regional routes operate only once or twice a week, often on fixed days that suit package holidays. Check the airline’s timetable for your airport and dates before you book a hotel.

When are flights to Zakynthos from the UK cheapest?

Fares are usually lowest at the beginning and end of the season, in May, early June, late September and October, when the weather is still warm and the resorts are quieter. On the other hand, July, August and the UK school holidays are the busiest and most expensive. Because many routes are weekly, flexibility on your day of travel can matter more than on daily routes.

Transfer times from the airport

Note that these are approximate driving times in normal traffic:

DestinationApprox. time by car
Kalamaki5–10 minutes
LaganasAbout 10 minutes
Zakynthos Town10–15 minutes
Agios Sostis and Limni Keriou15–20 minutes
Tsilivi and Planos15–25 minutes
Vasilikos peninsula (Porto Zorro, Banana Beach)20–30 minutes
Alykes and Alykanas25–35 minutes
Agios Nikolaos (north)About 45–50 minutes

There’s no frequent airport bus, so most independent travelers take a taxi from the rank outside the terminal or pre-book a transfer. GetTransfer (affiliate link) lets you request a private transfer in advance and compare offers from local drivers. Car rental desks are available at the airport, as well as in the resorts.

Which resort?

Laganas is the nightlife resort, while Kalamaki and Tsilivi suit families, the Vasilikos peninsula has some of the best beaches, and the north is quieter and more rugged. Out-of-season flights to Zakynthos

Outside the summer season, there are no regular direct flights to Zakynthos from the UK. Instead, you can:

  • Fly via Athens: Athens has year-round flights from many UK airports (see flights to Athens from the UK), and domestic flights then connect Athens with Zakynthos in under an hour. Frequencies are much lower in winter, so check schedules first.
  • Take the ferry from Kyllini: ferries cross from Kyllini, on the western Peloponnese coast, to Zakynthos Town in about an hour, with several sailings a day in summer but fewer in winter. Kyllini is about three and a half to four hours by road from Athens airport, and KTEL buses from Athens to Zakynthos also include the ferry crossing.

Keep in mind, though, that many resort hotels, restaurants and boat trips close from November to April. Zakynthos Town, however, stays open year-round.

Booking tips

  1. Check the day of the week. Weekly flights from regional airports can limit your trip length, for example to 7, 10 or 14 nights.
  2. Book school-holiday dates early. Otherwise, family-friendly routes in late July and August can sell out.
  3. Compare flight-only and packages. UK package holidays that include flights normally come with ATOL protection, unlike most flight-only bookings.
  4. Consider nearby islands. If there’s no flight from your airport on your dates, look at flights to Corfu or Kefalonia, other Ionian islands with summer UK flights.
